What I wore… on a trip to outer space

March 13, 2014 missV 19 Comments

I am so proud of myself right now! Not only did I snap up this totally incredible atomic space dress, but I just did my first proper outfit shoot outside 😀 It takes a lot of guts I have to admit – I have a new found respect for girls who do this. A few people were watching… I felt like a bit of a boob, but at least I did it! I’ve only shared a couple of snaps in this post – the rest are indoors, but that’s mainly due to the wonderful sunshine making it too tricky to see the prints in the shots. I’m still learning how to handle this new camera, but it’s going well!
For those of you that know me, I’m a bit obsessed with space… What I’m obsessed with even more is what I like to refer to as ‘vintage future’ : the future people thought we would have in the 1950s. According to their predictions we would all be wearing tin foil and hanging out with robots. If only!!
So, when I saw this INCREDIBLE atomic space cadet dress on Audrey Star’s Boutique I almost fell off my chair!
It’s got a stunning vintage swing cut with a very rockabilly edge on the neckline. It even nips in at the waist and makes you curve-a-licious – there is nothing not to love! If that’s not persuaded you it’s also in the SALE and it is a total steal – there’s only Mediums (10-12) left though so you better get in there at the speed of sound to join this mission crew!
This is my first order from Audrey Star’s, but I’m pleased to report that they’ve got a great selection of retro brands, many of which are hard to find in the UK! I definitely foresee myself going back and investing in more pieces soon.
My Pegasus necklace from Tatty Devine is one of my favourite pieces (I have an absurd collection and I am super proud to share that I interned there a few years ago!) Don’t you think it looks wonderful with this dress? It’s black mirror, so it’s got that spacey feel and it looks pretty bad ass! They’ve currently got a gold version out that I’m eyeing up to add to my collection. It’s so bold it goes with everything!
I found my little handbag at a vintage store in London and my gold shoes are a few years old, but incase you’re wondering I got them from Office. This is my first outing in my polka dot tights (so cute!) which I bought in San Francisco. They’re by a company called Leg Avenue perhaps not the cheapest, but these are really great quality – being awful for ripping tights, I’m a strong believer you get what you pay for 🙂

All in all, I feel absolutely freaking fabulous in this outfit. The bag, shoes and tights combo makes me feel like I should be heading off to a summer wedding, but the dress and necklace makes me feel like I’m ready to go on a mission to outer space to show people how rocking planet earth is. Retro-tastic!

{here’s what I really look like between each photograph! haha}
I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s outfit post!
What would you wear on a trip to outer space? (apart from a space suit, obviously!)

WOOOAAAHHHH The top of that dress is the best thing I’ve ever seen!

Also, I love the bottom picture. It’s just generally a great photograph 😀

Had to write this comment twice, blogger decided it didn’t like me.

Haha – yeah, I posted all these cute pictures but I wanted to show that secretly, behind the camera, I’m a goofy mess 😀 No shame in that!!
I’m sorry blogger didn’t like you… I’m glad you posted twice for me to read this though <3

Thanks so much Eb! Yeah, I’ve always stood out a bit from the crowd. I think it’s a great thing, but often people think I’m a bit nutty 😉

    Judy Jetson chic! Love it.

I discovered I love a onesie last year so I would wear that to outer space. Astronaut suits are basically onesies right?

<3 <3 <3 Totally the look I want to nail! Haha 😀 Thanks Claire!

Believe it or not, I have not worn a onesie since I was but a nipper… clearly it’s because I’ve not found the right one wear into space! Brilliant suggestion – I’m going to start hunting on the weekend :B
