There is nothing more fun than getting dressed up for Disney. When I went to Florida a few years back I went Disneybounding with a bit of a sailor Micky theme and ticked off a bunch of stuff from my bucket list (I high five’d a mermaid and fought Gaston, what more could you ask for!) This time I wanted to keep up the playful vibe but wanted to make it more vintage themed. When I saw that She’s Dynamite had some left over Alfred Saheen fabric on her instagram account, I just about fell off my chair. He is the God of hawaiian style. This fabric was Tiki themed. She had enough to make a sweetheart top for me and ship it out in time. The planets had aligned in my favour; all my dreams came true!
Inside the Studios Park part of Disneyland Paris, there’s a lot of 50s style signage and decor, so going tiki style was going to fit in like a dream. I’m a bit sad that there isn’t an Enchanted Tiki Room in this park, because you know I would look like part of the show with this little number on, but I was still singing the songs regardless. That happens to be one of my favourite shows in Disneyworld for a lot of reasons: it is one of the few original attractions which, despite a few minor changes, has remained in the park since they opened. It was the first show to use audio animatronics, it’s super kitsch and retro and you can grab a Dole Whip on your way in, which is basically the flavour of Hawaii (Dole is a Hawaiian pineapple extravaganza). A visual, audible and taste sensation of an experience, which is pretty much like me too 😉
I’ve had my beady eye on She’s Dynamite for a while now because she is UK based and I love that she hand-makes everything she sells and always finds the cutest fabric. As soon as I clapped eyes on this in my feed I messaged her immediately because I had to have it. Stephanie (the owner and designer), was super fast to respond and more than happy to take a deposit for the top so I could have it. I dropped her a wee email with my measurements and she was more than happy to turn it around as quickly as possible for my holiday – what an absolute gem of a woman!! Having someone be so friendly and easy to work with is always really important to me when ordering handmade items, and knowing how great she is now, I know I will be back again and again.
What I am especially happy to share is that this is one of the best made sweetheart tops I own… And I own A LOT of sweetheart tops; they’re my favourite because of their flattering shape and style. It’s a button back top with shirring on the sides (that’s a fancy word for fabric with an elasticated gathering which looks pretty), meaning it’s perfect if your size fluctuates a little like mine. Although it’s a cropped top, it’s the perfect length for those who love to wear high waisted trousers and shorts like I do, and it’s got a decent lining on the inside too. Considering each piece is handmade, mainly with vintage fabric, the price is incredibly good for the product. From experience, Tara Starlet sells sweetheart tops for the same price, but without the shirring and they’re a bit shorter, making them a little trickier to wear. Defo worth the investing in if you spot one you like!!
Just for the record, I have not been paid for – or given freebies – to promote She’s Dynamite, I just gosh darn love this top! And I had so much fun running around the parks with my girl gang. Dressing up for the occasion really does make the adventure that little bit more special, so I fully endorse people get involved and go all out for their holidays too. It’s especially fun for those who don’t usually get all dolled up for fear of judgement. In Disneyland everyone’s your friend – and everyone will adore what you wear. Leave your nerves / fear / good sense of dressing properly for the cold weather at home and embrace the trip. You will not regret a thing … and some of that innocent magic might even come home with you 🙂
*Behind the magic* This is what it actually looks like when I do these photo shoots. So glamorous! Heehee!
Big love to She’s Dynamite and RowanJoy for making sure the magic never ends with these beautiful garments! And sending all my love to these beautiful women. You made the trip ladies!
Time to start a countdown ’till my next Disney adventure… because there should always be one of those on the horizon 🙂

I LOVE this top! I always stay away from strappy things because I have such teeny shoulders, but had never thought of wearing something halter before…I will store this in my memory for the summer.
Also, I love Disneyland Paris. I saw Goofy last time I went and my life was complete! x
Thanks Lauren! You’re going to be as obsessed with halter tops as I am! They’re literally the best, I think they’re generally associated with tacky 90’s fashions and that’s why they’re often over looked, but they can be totally flattering on! I love that you’re a goofy fan! We met Tiana, and my friend (who works for Disney) literally cried with joy. It was BRILIANT!!
