If you saw my earlier blog post, you would have had a little peek into my recent visit to White Stuff in Edinburgh and I bet you’re dying to see more of what’s in the shop! Based on George Street, White Stuff has to be one of my favourite stores for inspiration thanks to some absolutely incredible visual merchandising props. This shop looks so great it’s hard not to leave inspired, so if you’re looking for some ideas on how to spruce up your stall / home and find yourself some lovely gifts while you’re at it, this is literally your one stop shop…
Decked out with a telephone booth, mini forrest and retro paintings to boot, walking inside the store is like walking inside a dream world. Whilst a lot of the cloths aren’t quite to my taste, they still have a few amazing pieces like this Misteltoe jumper, this stripe dress and this gold polka dot top which would look amazing on with some high waisted trousers! Clothes aside, their collection of accessories, scarves and home stuff is brilliant and the shop has been one of my top hits for Christmas gifting. I mean, come on – check out these pug salt n pepper shakers! As if you don’t need them in your life! I can’t think of anyone who would not want a set of these on their dinner table. So cute!
Luckily for me, White Stuff threw a big Mad Hatter’s Tea Party for their local bloggers, so we were in for an extra special treat during the evening with yummy tea and chocolate from Just Be Botanicals, who have created tasty herbal tea’s in according to your mood like Happy Tea and Active Tea. As I only drink herbal teas at the moment I am loving discovering new companies and combinations. I don’t even want to think about how many kinds I have in my cupboard, but I never get board!
We also got spoiled with a massive table of treats full of cupcakes, scones and sandwiches and the greatest Cheshire Cat cake I have ever seen in my life! This was actually made by the store manager who blogs about her phenomenal baked wonders at over at This Is How I Bake, which has become my new food blog obsession . Get your bookmarks at the ready because you’re going to discover how to create some incredible tasty treats when you get there!
No Alice In Wonderland themed tea party would be complete without a hare at the end of the table to keep an eye on proceedings. Well, they certainly didn’t disappoint with this amazing person sized rabbit! I’m not sure who made this, but I want one for my home. His floral trimming and outfit breaks my heart!!
If you ever get the chance to go to the shop, you HAVE to go see their fitting rooms. Instead of normal doors and cubicles you walk into your changing room via a wardrobe. Yep, you heard right, a wardrobe! And each and every room has been done out with a theme. I have no words to express how mind-bogglingly brilliant this is. There is a 50’s kitchen, a 60’s tween bedroom, a 70’s disco room, a tiki room – heck there is even an under the sea room! This was actually dreamed up by a little girl who entered their in store competition to revamp an old room. Not only did the Visual Merchandise nail this theme, but they even did it using things like old shot glasses, cupcake cases and even some old plastic cutlery. Genius, right?
For the holidays, the (normally closed to the public) get’s transformed into a winter wonderland where there’s a ginger bread house for Santa’s Grotto and Santa, the big man himself, even comes by during the day to find out what all the good boys and girls want for Christmas. They’ve done such a great job setting the scene for Santa’s Grotto I used it for my outfit post. I hope that doesn’t land me on the naughty list!
Oh, and did I mention their till desk is a giant sweetie shop? No? Well it is! And you can actually buy and eat all those sweets! Plus all the donations made for your little bags of candy even gets donated to their nominated charity, Lothian Autistic. In fact, White Stuff do a lot of charity work which is really lovely to hear. Knowing you’re buying products from a company who gives back makes a big difference if you ask me, especially at this time of year when donating is really important. Well done White Stuff!
Itching to head to the shop? I thought you would be! For those of you who can’t make it to a local store, you can visit them online here.
Thanks for having me White Stuff!
