In true Vicky style, you have to make the most of every momentous occassion. So for the last day of my 30th year, I was going to celebrate in style! You’re only 30 and 364 days once in your life, and naturally you have to go out with a bang. My day didn’t actually go as planned, but, in the most unlikely of situations, it got a thousand times better!
Bring on the surprize hair do! I poppped into Lipstick Lashes & Locks first thing in the morning for my regular haircut, and when I was telling lovely Tina what I had planned for the day, we decided to go all out and put my hair up too. What a treat! I’ve always wanted to try rocking a side roll fringe, but I didn’t really know how to go about it. If you’re ever planning to try a new do, my advice is to always invest in a professional to do it first so you have some hands on experience before taking on the challenge yourself. It saves on a lot of products, split ends and frustrations in the long run!
As I am a huge fan of Tina’s style and work, I put full faith in her hands to do whatever she fancied with the rest of my hair. Best decision ever? I THINK SO!! I’ve never felt so glamourous. Plus it looks like I have lots of beautiful hair (the blond side is long, the non blond side is pretty short). She’s some kind of hair wizard! I’m so pleased to have found someone who knows exactly what to do with my hair when I ask for a vintage look. No more chain salons for me!! Thanks Tina xox
Next up, a road trip out to Jupiter Artlands, which is just on the edge of Edinburgh. I’ve never been before and decided not to let another year pass with that on my To Do List. On the drive over, the weather changed from lovely to overcast – oh no! I didn’t even pack an umbrella, being so young and naive and all. And to top it off, it was closed for the day for a special event! I’d come so far I decided not to let that fact rain on my parade, so I took a few cheeky outfit photos anyway. Breaking into art exhibits – a new level of rock and roll!
I love that these sculptures are hidden in a forrest, so on the way out I decided to get a bit adventurous and go for a mini explore. I’ve been obsessed with the idea of shooting some outfit posts in the wilderness so this was a great taster in how practical it is. Next time I’ll be walking in some more sensible shoes before I find the right location. I think the folliage is so beautiful it was worth it none the less!
When the rain started coming down it was time to go, but I wasn’t ready to go home quite yet. Roll on a surprise trip to Pizza Hut and the Disney Store! A truely great way to end the day – I felt like I was 14 again, only 100 times cuter! After stuffing my face and stocking up on tsum tsums (pointless, but adorable!) I was pretty beat and feeling totally satisfied with my day. A cheeky cocktail back at home and I was ready to say farewell to my last day of 30.
I hope all days that don’t go to plan work out this fantastic from now on!
So if you’re about to turn a year older, don’t forget to celebrate all that you’ve achieved in the year past. I’d love to hear what you do with your special day … I’ve got plenty more years to come for planning!
