What I wore … to the art school library

What I wore … to the art school library

Going to the library by no way means that your outfit needs to be quiet!
This week I thought I would share a shoot of me wearing my amazing new trousers. Whilst I adore dressing up and wearing shorts, they’re just not practical for everyday wear sometimes. There was no way in heck I was going to pick something bland though! haha!
The floral print on my new Warehouse trousers is quite intense, but I think that too many people get frightened by a heavy print. I’m a small person and often read in articles that I should avoid crazy prints because they’ll ‘drown me out’. That’s only true a fraction of the time. If worn correctly you can pull off anything! If it was a full jumpsuit made of this you’re going to be drowned out, sure, but a pair of trousers is totally fine!
My shoes are actually a butchered pair from Primark. They had these gold things on the tops with massive fake crystals *bleugh* I can’t even describe how hidious they were. BUT! They were only attached with plastic string so they were easily removed with a pair of scissors. This is only recommended on shoes that are too cheap to have things properly attached to them. Check before you do anything brash πŸ™‚

My fun little steamboat necklace is from Kate Spade and, much like this stripe top, is a staple piece in my ‘casual style’ wardrobe… I’m a massive fan of the breton look and have quite a few striped jumpers in my possession too. It’s a classic H&M number (similar version here, but it’s defo in the stores) and so cheap there’s no excuse not to have one in your possession πŸ˜‰

I love mixing and matching florals with stripes, but if that’s a bit too bold for you, a block colour top would work brilliantly with the trousers as well. If you’re looking to venture into the world of printed trousers and skirts but worry what to pair with them, just pick out one of the colours from the material and find a top that matches it πŸ™‚ If all else fails, black goes with everything!

So, which do you prefer? My usual retro twist on outfits? Or something a little more … ‘normal’?

July Round Up! Features, Tutorials, Fashion, Photography & All The Best Bits…

July Round Up! Features, Tutorials, Fashion, Photography & All The Best Bits…

*BOOM*
Can you believe August has already crashed in? That means one thing…. A round up of what we got up to in July of course! Incase you missed any of the good bits (or ruddy brilliant ones should I say!), here is a snippet at what went down at Vivid HQ…
Lots of pretty photos this month with afternoon tea, days in the sun and cocktails in a suitcase! We love to use our camera phones to snap all the things that make us smile. In Scotland we’ve had a really rainy year so these moments need to be documented as proof πŸ˜‰
We’re really excited about the fabricate exhibition in Edinburgh this month and got the opportunity to share the event on the blog before it opened. Full of some absolutely stunning design from upcoming Scottish makers, we rate this show highly as a must see if you’re in town for the Fringe!
It’s open ’till the 31st of August at Studio One, so make sure you pencil it in πŸ˜€

We have had the most fun yet with all our new tutorials! They will update your home and save you a fortune at the same time… not to mention all the fun you will have from learning something new! Check out how to make your own home screen printing kit, a cute little terrarium to bring the outdoors in and update your sofa with an awesome moon cushion using photo transfer paper. We also shared a diy that will update your dining room and pass the time on long journeys with our  placemat travel games project and show you how to make peanut butter and an awesome jar to go with it. Last but not least, a quick jewelry diy to show you how to make your own collar clips / cardigan clips from clip on earrings and a bracelet. A lot of great stuff, right?!

This month we fell in love with the galaxy trend and rocked a sultry and sexy vamp look for our outfit post Style me friday… Dressing up is one of my favorite pass times so making these fashion posts are a lot of fun!
We were really excited to have been featured sellers on Uncovet’s website, an online store dedicated to sharing some of the best new and upcoming designers products. On top of that we even made etsy’s usa homepage with our pencils too – we are so proud to have made it on the front page in the uk and america now πŸ˜€ We also did brilliantly at the 2 (!!) markets we traded at this month and we even had time to make plenty of brilliant new products. Crikey! No wonder the time has flown by so fast! We are delighted to have passed someone in the street wearing one of our products too – it’s so great to see our things being loved and worn with such pride! It really makes all the hard work and effort seem so, so worth it!
Finally, before we go, we’d really like to thank everyone who has shared our Mini Fork Pom Pom diy post this month too. This little fellow has been popping up everywhere and it has been amazing πŸ˜€ If you’ve shared any of our tutorials on your blog or tumbler etc, please let us know and send us a url – we’d love to be able to thank everyone for all the support they have been giving us!
So, a massive thank you and shout out to:
PHEW!
We hope we haven’t missed anyone out – please let us know if we have and we would love to add you in too. Hooray! Thanks everyone!
Thanks to all our lovely readers too – we hope you’ve enjoyed our July round up and have a lot of fun with all our new projects πŸ˜€ Here’s to more brilliant things to come in August!!
Enjoy!
