I’ve had quite the journey in the last year. Between moving home, rebranding my shop and blog, getting a new job and passing my driving test, it’s been one of the fastest changing years in my life. Sometimes I’ve felt like things have taken an absolute age to happen, but when I actually look at it in black and white, I can’t believe how far I’ve come and how much I’ve achieved in such a short period of time. Not to get too soppy and nostalgic on you, but I seriously couldn’t have done it without my family and amazing … and I really mean AMAZING friends. I am so greatful for everything and everyone in my life right now, it’s actually making me a little light headed. Y’all rock peeps, I love you!
But enough of all that gooey chat.
As you well know, I’m one of those people who sticks out of the crowd and actually really loves getting older. Why? Because presents, that’s why! Haha, joking, I wrote a blog post all about it before, and I’m not scenile enough yet to repet myself – take that ageing! But in a nutshell, age is just a number; people still give me dolls for my birthday haha! Something you don’t know about me: I have a collection of Little Mermaid dolls that I’ve had from when the film first came out (I was massively obsessed, and part of me still thinks that I secretly have mermaid ancestry. Anything’s possible!!) so when I was gifted this extra special limited edition Vanessa doll I just about fainted. Ursula is my favourite villan (Poor Unfortunate Souls is my bathtime jam) so to have her in human form is pretty much the cherry on my creepy doll collection cake. You’re never too old to reveal you’re a closet weirdo, right!!
I spent the actual day at work, followed with dinner with all the ladies in my family (we’re outnumbered by the males most of the time, so this was extra special for us) which was an absolute delight. I decided not to have a big party this year, but plan several ‘smaller’ events. Smaller does not actually mean smaller, only more focused I guess! So far I’ve had a special date with Lynsay in Glasgow (which will be the focus of my next blog post!!), Harriet and I went to see my all time favourite band the Foo Fighters (which took me 2 days to recover from because I had been jumping about in the pitch and singing my wee heart out – sorry vocal cords! Best show I’ve been to in ages!), and I have a girl gang sleepover in my new flat this weekend! Plus, as I’m meeting people in smaller groups, I think I’ve only eaten at home once this month. Clearly overindulgence has been the theme of this month 🙂 It’s been such a blast so far and I am totally psyched about all the other amazing things on the horizon. Don’t fret, I’ll be sharing as soon as they occur!
In summery; hooray for month long celebrations! And hooray for saving up and working extra shifts for spending all the monies guilt free! Birthdays are the best.
