So for me, January ended with a great big bang with a brilliant trip down to the alternative fashion event London Edge (held in London, obviously!) thanks to one stop pin up clothes shop Voodoo Vixen. On for only a few days and open exclusively to pin up and alternative traders, I was over the moon to get a pass in to check out all the awesome brands and see all the glorious new threads, accessories and cosmetics before they hit the shops. Stupendous day out, right?
Voodoo Vixen Margot Magic 8 Ball Dress
As soon as I arrived at the venue and changing into my new Voodoo Vixen dress ,their hair and make up team went to work to whip me into a vintage vixen. Nicola, who’s the hairstylist for all the pictures you see on the website, asked me how I wanted my ‘do and I gave her 3 preferences: vintage, tall and fun. 20 minutes later my chair spun round and I laid eyes on this victory rolls masterpiece. Isn’t it the prettiest? Following hair I headed straight to Leanne for a quick make over. It’s not often I leave the house sans eye liner and place all my trust into anothers hands, but I was thrilled to bits with how lovely it turned out. She gave me big wing tips, red lips and a cute little beauty mark to boot. If I could keep these gals at hand for my hair and make up every day I would be one happy lady!
Kat Williams – Rock N Roll Bride
So once I was all dolled up I was ready to hit the show. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I spotted Kat of The Blogcademy at the show getting ready to do a talk about her work and the new online courses. As you know I’m very proud to call myself a Blogcadette and once again, Kat’s talk was really inspiring and full of helpful nuggets of wisdom. Having the chance to catch up with her since the Amsterdam class was a really great treat too – she really is the sweetest!
Despite not knowing anyone when I arrived, I quickly found friends in adorable fellow bloggers Amanda of Honey Pop Kisses, Monica of Moth Loves and Indra of Alice In Beautyland, who were essentially my girl gang for the day. Not only did we get to go virtual shopping together, but we were also all headed on a Routemaster bus to the aftershow burlesque party at Gem bar. With a free bar, my make over and new dress on I knew it was going to be one heck of a great night!
But let’s get to the important part . . . the shopping! Not only did I get the chance to rummage through stalls of some of my most favourite brands, but I got to discover lots of new ones. Without further adieu, here’s a little peek at what I’ve got my eye on… And for starters, check out that Collectif dress!!
Life goals thanks to these awesome Sourpuss mugs
Need to get me some new mint, lilac and bubblegum hair dye from Manic Panic. Never a disappointment with these shades in town!
So many cute shoes from Iron Fist, such little time! I’m between the mint green and pearl ones and the cupcake ones… but then also those carebear ones are so crazy they might just work!
Hello wardrobe wish list! I’ll take these please:
One of my main highlights from the show has got to have been meeting the lovely team over at Besame Cosmetics. I’m a big fan of their 50s inspired make up and I could barely contain myself when I got to try a wee sniff of their yet to be launched 1950s perfume. Based on popular scents from the era itself, it’s got a beautiful light, delicate and sweet smell that is going to be the pièce de résistance to any vintage fan’s cosmetic’s bag. I literally can’t wait to get my hands on some! I also got to take a peek at the lipstick they created to match the colour of a limited run of vintage Lincoln cars (matching your make up to your paint job – I have a new level of love!) and their amazing blusher brushes. It’s so great to see how the brand is developing and that there are so many exciting things in the pipeline. Better start saving now!!
The worst part of the event? Not being able to stay for longer and buy all the goodies. But there is always something to look forward to knowing these products are out there in the world and ready to become mine!
Big love to Nicki and the Voodoo Vixen team for sponsoring and organising such a cracking day for us all! Whenever I’m in doubt for a night out, I’ll give my 8 ball dress a good shake and see what she thinks…
Wingtips and kisses!
