Last week I went along to a Christmas tea party at White Stuff with the Edinburgh Bloggers and had an absolute ball! For those of you who have never stepped foot into White Stuff on George Street, I can honestly tell you you’re missing out on one of the funnest shops in Edinburgh. To sum it up in 3 points, there are THEMED FITTING ROOMS (!!!!) over the festive period they have Santa’s Grotto upstairs – and a Santa who might have been in Still Game *ahem* and they have the best visual merchandising for fun photos in the city. Having a VM background, this place is a sure place to hit up for some great inspiration … for work and my home! Anyhow, you can read my blog post on the shop shortly. Today I’m here to talk about what I wore to the party!
Tis the season to be jolly, so naturally I have been dressing up as much as possible for nights out. I wanted to wear something dressy but still quite casual as I had been working my little socks off during the day. This cream and polka dot dress from TFNC is an oldie but a goodie as it can be dressed up or down and it’s super comfortable. As it has a cute flirty skirt, it’s easy to dress for the day with a black cardigan and tights, but it’s ready to go for a night on the town with some nude stockings and a coloured (or no) cardigan too. Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean a gal cant put on her glad rags!
As it was a Alice In Wonderland themed party, I decided to take my adorable new Hello Strumpet fascinator out for a spin in honour of the Mad Hatter. I’ve been eyeing up this hair candy for months and was absolutely over the moon to purchase it at the Etsy Pop Up shop. It’s a gorgeous bubblegum pink colour and it’s made with mohair. Its a really sweet way to brighten up any outfit without going ott! I’m a massive fan of Nicola’s hats, so you can rest assured you’re going to see how to wear them much more on my blog. I already posted about my tiny black beret hat and I always get such sweet compliments from it. Accessorising is the best!
I popped along to Karen Mabon’s secret sample sale on Monday and was jumping for joy when I spotted she had one of her breakdown beauty queen scarfs for a fraction of the RRP price. This has been on my wish list since she made it in collaboration with Coco Fennell because it’s so many levels of awesome. Make sure you sign up for her emails so you can keep up to date with any secret sales she’s having because you won’t be disappointed! This one has the perfect colours for me – it’s navy with lots of rose and gold tones and the print has various beauty queens, pills and ciggys on it… I do love a bad gal and if I was living in the 50s I know for sure I would have taken part in one of those ‘Miss Sexy Legs’ beauty pageants in Blackpool. Classy! Heehee! I might have also bought 3 other scarves too, like her prize poodles, cocktail o clock and Debbie McGee magician scarf… oh how I do love a bargain and she is my FAVOURITE scarf lady! Thanks so much for making my day Karen!
When I discovered White Stuff’s stuffed toy room I couldn’t resist diving in and doing my best creepy doll impression. ET Phone Home anyone? I’m pretty sure with a few more plushies I could have fooled you haha!
To add some extra sparkle I popped on some glitter flats which I picked up from Primark. They actually had some really ugly diamonte things on the top of them too, but I cut them off because I felt it made them too clunky. Don’t be afraid to alter cheap shoes! You’d never even know there was anything missing; all you need to do is check if the shoe accessories are attached with string so you can cut them off. If they’re attached with glue you’re looking at hacking off as much as you can and gluing something better in it’s place instead. If it all goes wrong, at least you haven’t spent loads of money on those pumps!
YAAAY! I had such a fun time hanging out with my local bloggers at White Stuff taking all these photos! Naturally as soon as Kim and I saw this pink tricycle in their tween fitting room we couldn’t resist climbing on and taking it for a spin. Stephen King eat your heart out haha!
To read all about the event and find out more about the shop check out my blog post on Friday.
Wishing you all some super merry festive celebrations!
